Side's boats depart from a harbour that has been receiving ships since the 2nd century BC. The original Roman harbour walls are still standing. Private boat hire in Side, Turkey gives you the sea view those ancient traders had — Temple of Apollo columns at the tip of the peninsula, sandy bays on both sides, and the Manavgat coastline stretching east with no resort development in sight.
Hotel pickup from Side town centre and the major Side and Manavgat resort hotels included. Payment at the marina on the day — no deposit required.
Side Marina occupies the site of Side's original Roman-era harbour. The harbour walls date from the 2nd century BC, when Side was one of the most active trading ports on the southern Turkish coast — exporting timber, grain, and slaves from the interior of Anatolia. The stone quays and breakwaters that guided those ships are still visible along the waterfront today.
This matters practically as well as historically. The harbour faces west, giving it natural shelter from the prevailing summer winds. Conditions inside the harbour are calm even when the open sea is choppy, which makes morning departures reliable through the full charter season.
The Temple of Apollo stands at the very tip of the Side peninsula, on a platform that projects into the sea. Five of the original Corinthian columns remain standing. From a charter boat anchored 200 metres offshore, the columns are clearly visible above the waterline — framed by the open water behind them and the old city walls on either side.
This is not a view you get from the land approach. Tourists arriving by road see the temple from inside the city, looking out to sea. From the water, you see it the way the ancient merchants did — as a landmark and a welcome. It's the single most distinctive thing about a charter from Side versus any other marina on the Turkish Riviera.
The Side peninsula has sandy beaches on both sides. West Beach faces the open Mediterranean and is longer; East Beach is sheltered and calmer, with shallower water. Both are accessible by boat without setting foot in the tourist zones behind them. Anchoring off East Beach gives a clear view back to the ancient city walls — a combination of history and swimming that's difficult to replicate from a beach towel.
East of the peninsula, the coast opens toward Manavgat. The resort density drops quickly once you pass the Side headland — within 5km the bays become noticeably quieter, with smaller coves and cleaner water than the main beach fronts.
A half-day charter (4 hours) from Side Marina typically circles the peninsula — one pass with the Temple of Apollo in view, then two or three swimming stops in the sandy bays on the east and west sides. A full day (8 hours) extends east toward the Manavgat coast, where the water is clearer and the bays are empty. The route adjusts to conditions and group preference. If you're combining a sea day with other activities in the area, our Side tours page covers the full range of options from Side and Manavgat.
